The American College of Prosthodontists presents the 2010 ACP Distinguished Lecturer Award to Dr. Jonathan L. Ferencz

ORLANDO, Florida, November, 2010 – The American College of Prosthodontists presents the 2010 ACP Distinguished Lecturer Award to Dr. Jonathan L. Ferencz for his contribution in the areas of science, publication and education and his devotion as a dental educator.

Dr. Ferencz graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and NYU College of Dentistry, where he has taught since 1972, and currently is Clinical Professor of Prosthodontics. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Past President of the American College of Prosthodontists, the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics and the Northeastern Gnathological Society. He has given more than 200 continuing education presentations and is active in clinical research at NYU in the area of high strength ceramics.

Dr. Ferencz accepted his award at the Annual Awards & President’s Dinner during the conference held on Nov. 3-6. With a record nearly 1,000 ACP members in attendance, prosthodontists, dental technicians and other dental industry professionals and guests, who learned the latest in prosthodontic trends, leading edge technology and other news impacting the specialty during the Annual Session, which is held each fall.

The College celebrated its 40th Anniversary during the meeting at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress. New this year was a Keynote Speaker as part of Thursday’s Scientific Session, sponsored by Ivoclar Vivadent, featuring Malcolm Gladwell, a four-time New York Times bestselling author, who explored his theory on “outliers” as it relates to prosthodontists and the specialty. Other highlights of the conference included a new workshop offered in Spanish – Estetica, Implantes y casos de alta complejidad para Odontólogos Internacionales (Esthetics, Implants and Complex Cases for International Practitioners); a new Friday workshop for dental technicians – Digital Realities for Dental Laboratories, presented together with Spectrum Dialog; and new Saturday session – Digital Restorative Symposium – Beauty Through Technology, also presented together with Spectrum Dialogue.
